St. Louis Fashion Week 2014

Hello and Happy Wednesday! I just arrived back in St. Louis after a wonderful few days at home, and I feel so refreshed and inspired. You know those days when you don’t have anything planned aside from pajamas and your best girl friends? The best. I even got to celebrate my 20th birthday a little early with my birthday twin (well, almost!). Let’s just say there were a few too many brunches, dozens of happy birthday wishes, and a thousand things to be thankful for – I’m not complaining!

Speaking of inspiration, a huge source of inspiration for me these days has been my very own St. Louis blogging community. Having attended St. Louis Fashion Week, put on by a wonderful team at Alive Magazine, was such an amazing experience. I am still on fire with inspiration. Having the opportunity to meet handfuls of incredible people in just a few short days was incredible, and I can’t describe how excited I am to work alongside the wonderful people that make up the STL fashion community. It’s crazy to think that I am taking part in a fashion movement that is about to explode! While MHK in STL is just a little piece of the puzzle, I feel so lucky to be in the here and now. I want to make my voice heard on this little corner of the internet, and St. Louis, right here in the Midwest, is the perfect place to get started.

You didn’t think I would leave without letting you in on the details of Fashion Week, did you?! Of course not! The pictures above aren’t the best quality (I am still working towards an investment camera that’s a little quicker when it comes to these kind of shots) but I really like the unique way that they document my first ever fashion show and attendance at STLFW. I went to the Thursday night shows and after party with a fellow blogger, Klara, (check out her site here! So cute) and a few other friends. We watched the collections of Timo Weiland, Tess Giberson, and Yigal Azrouel walk down the runway at the iconic Saint Louis Union Station Hotel. The shows were nothing short of spectacular, and I could easily have snatched a few items to add to my closet right off the runway! Among my favorites were pieces with sheer detailing, structure + feminine lines, and fur, fur fur! I captured the Tess Giberson and Yigal Azrouel shows on video, and they’re ready for viewing above. The atmosphere, music, and energy in the building was indescribable…I wish I could repeat the evening over and over and share it with you! I dressed for the occasion in a little black 2-peice dress with sheer paneling, a black blazer, metallic flats (perfect for staying on my feet throughout the night) and my favorite kate spade new york beau bag.

Last, but not least, a few housekeeping details:
You might have noticed a new little piece of swag (for lack of a better word) on the right-hand side bar of the site…Yep! MHK in STL is now a proud contributor to the Lucky Magazine Community! I am so excited for this opportunity. Also, THANKS A MILLION to all of you who have been reading, because MHK in STL has been reaching a record number of people, and statistics have been climbing day by day. I can’t thank you all enough! I am so excited about the direction we, together, are going in! As always, xo, MK.
